"International Chinese Language Teacher Scholarship"

To meet the growing demand for Chinese language education professionals in the international community, promote the development of Chinese language education worldwide, and support the growth of international Chinese language education talents, the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education has established the International Chinese Language Teacher Scholarship (hereinafter referred to as the Scholarship), focusing on cultivating qualified overseas Chinese language teachers. Confucius Institutes, independently established Confucius Classrooms, certain Chinese language test centers, foreign educational institutions, Chinese language teacher training programs/departments in universities, foreign organizations related to Chinese language teaching, and Chinese embassies and consulates abroad (hereinafter referred to as recommending institutions) can recommend outstanding students and in-service Chinese language teachers to Chinese universities (hereinafter referred to as host institutions) for study and further education in Chinese international education and related majors. As one of the host institutions for the International Chinese Language Teacher Scholarship, Heilongjiang University welcomes Chinese language enthusiasts from around the world to study at our university.


I. Eligibility


1. Non-Chinese citizens.

2. Friendly towards China, with no records of illegal activities or criminal offenses, and abide by the laws, regulations, and rules of the Chinese government and the university.

3. Physically and mentally healthy, with outstanding academic performance.

4. Aspiring to engage in Chinese language education, teaching, and related work.

5. Age between 16 and 35 years old (calculated as of September 1st of the application year). For in-service Chinese language teachers, the age limit is extended to 45 years old.

II. Scholarship Categories and Application Requirements (can be presented in a table format):


1. One-Year Research Scholars:

- Enrollment in September for a sponsorship duration of 11 months.

- Applicants who have previously received the same type of scholarship will not be considered.

- For the International Chinese Language Education track, HSK (Level 3) score of 270 or above, along with HSKK scores.

- For Chinese Language and Literature, Chinese History, Chinese Philosophy, and related fields, HSK (Level 4) score of 180 or above, HSKK (Intermediate Level) score of 60 or above.

- For Chinese Language Research, HSK (Level 3) score of 210 or above, priority given to applicants with HSKK scores.


2. One-Semester Research Scholars:

- Enrollment in September or March for a sponsorship duration of 5 months.

- Applicants with X1 or X2 visas on their passports will not be considered.

- For International Chinese Language Education, Chinese Language and Literature, Chinese History, Chinese Philosophy, and related fields, HSK (Level 3) score of 180 or above, along with HSKK scores.

- For Chinese Language Research, applicants must have HSK scores, and priority is given to those with HSKK scores.


3. Four-Week Research Scholars:

- Enrollment in July or December for a sponsorship duration of 4 weeks.

- Applicants must have HSK scores.

- Group applications can be made through recommending institutions. Applicants should contact the receiving institution in advance to determine the study plan in China and obtain approval from the Chinese Language Center. Each group should consist of 10-15 people.


III. Application Process:

1. Visit the International Chinese Language Teacher Scholarship application website: https://pmplatform.chinese.cn/ui/start/#/login and search for the receiving institution: Heilongjiang University (Institution Code: 10212).

2. Submit application materials online and follow the application process, review feedback, and scholarship evaluation results.

3. Scholarship recipients must complete the procedures for studying in China with the receiving institution and print the award certificate online.

4. Enroll according to the designated time stated in the admission letter from our university.

IV. Application Deadlines (Beijing Time):

1. July Enrollment: Application deadline is April 15th.

2. September Enrollment: Application deadline is May 15th.

3. December Enrollment: Application deadline is September 15th.

4. March Enrollment: Application deadline is November 15th.


V. Funding Standards:

This program provides full scholarships, including tuition fees, accommodation fees, living expenses (except for four-week research scholars), and comprehensive medical insurance fees.

1. Monthly Living Allowance: 2,500 RMB.

- The living allowance will be provided monthly to scholarship recipients by the university.

2. Comprehensive Medical Insurance: The university will purchase insurance in accordance with the relevant regulations of the Chinese Ministry of Education for international students studying in China.

VII. Application Materials:

Please provide high-resolution color scanned copies of the following documents:

1. Copy of the passport photo page.

2. Notarized proof of the highest educational degree. If the applicant is a current student or employed, an additional pre-graduation certificate issued by the current school or an employment certificate issued by the employer must be submitted. Non-Chinese or non-English documents should be accompanied by notarized Chinese or English translations.

3. Academic transcripts. Non-Chinese or non-English documents should be accompanied by notarized Chinese or English translations.

4. HSK and HSKK score reports.

5. Recommendation letter from the responsible person at the recommending institution.

6. Applicants under 18 years of age must submit a power of attorney document signed by the guardian in China.

7. In-service Chinese language teachers must provide proof of employment from their institution and a recommendation letter.
